UPDATE - #Ecolockdown Challenge - Week 1
Week 1 - 1st to 7th Feb - Food, Farming and Forests
Challenge: Go meat free one day this week!
Reducing the amount of meat we eat is good for the planet. The challenge this week was to for one day this week go meat free. If you are already a vegetarian you could try eating vegan food for a day. If you can do more than one day that will be great! Maybe you could do one day every week going forward?
Why eating Vegan / Vegetarian is good for the planet:
The meat, diary and farmed livestock is responsible for 14.5% of human-made greenhouse gas emissions. That is roughly all the exhaust emissions of every car, ship, aircraft and train on the planet!
If everyone chose a vegetarian / vegan diet it would take 30 years to drop the food related emissions. By choosing this diet you will help by reducing these emissions.
You may think this is not affecting you and think to yourself, let others do it... But in another 30 years this will affect YOU and your loved ones. We are already seeing the changes in our climate through weather...
#EcoLockdown Challenge Update
I was very pleased and happy to learn that my teacher Miss Leanne Crump and my Headmaster Mr Warren Honey took part in 'Week 1 - Eco Lockdown Challenge'. My headmaster has informed my mum that he is incorporating some meals into his diet weekly that are vegetarian / vegan. So proud of you Mr Honey!! Thank you for the changes you are making to help our world. Every small change we all make leads to big changes!
Here's what Mr Honey has had to say about the challenge;
My parents, my baby brother Roshan and I took part in this challenge. We are already vegetarians, have been since birth, including my mum! We tried to eat more vegan meals this week. Here are some photos of us enjoying our meals!
Pleased to announce my blog is now being read around the world! We have had a few people contacting us, that they have also been taking part in this challenge. This was due to the information they read on my blog! Here's a picture of Calum from Dubai;
My little Eco Warriors!! They are so cute! My cousins; Zara is two years old and Saajan is one years old! Even they took part and tried different meals / snacks this week! This just goes to show it doesn't matter how old you are, everyone can make changes to try and adapt to new things.
Here are some pictures of the mini Eco Warriors;
My friends who have also been following my blog, have tried to have more meat free meals. This is great, really happy and proud of you all! Below are photos of Tamika and her sister Tianna.
Keep an eye out for my next post for #EcoLockdown Challenge Week 2!
