Bird Box Making With The Wildlife Trust For Birmingham And The Black Country

Here is a picture of us with Jake with our completed bird box! Thank you Jake for all your help!!

Bird Boxes For Nesting

As a family we went down to Hill Hook Local Nature Reserve to help to make bird boxes ready for the nesting season.

I was told by the Trust that there is a shortage of natural nesting sites for birds and this has played a part in the decline of some of the UK’s most iconic species.

It is easy to provide nesting opportunities for birds in our gardens and outdoor spaces. That is why we went along to make our own bird box for our garden!

Nest boxes must provide a safe, comfortable environment, protect the birds from predators and the bad weather.  By doing this small act of kindness you can help protect the decline of this wonderful wildlife.

See the photos below how me and my baby brother got on with making our own box. It was SO MUCH FUN and we learnt so many new skills.

In the half term holidays we are going to sand our box down and paint it. We will then will be placing it in our garden.

Jake from The Wildlife Trust For Birmingham and the Black Country was AMAZING! He helped us so much and made the whole experience so fun for us.
